If You Are Passionate About Food, You Will Simply Love Bristol

Bristol is the busiest city in the south west region of England that makes the perfect base for a great getaway for individuals of all ages. Bristols location on the Severn Estuary with its historic dock and floating harbour, give the city a distinctive maritime feel.

The area is known for its vibrancy and in recent years the continually expanding number of quality eateries in the city, have given Bristol a reputation for wonderful cuisine.

There is no shortage of things to do in Bristol and the surrounding areas. From the zoo to the planetarium, or the great selection of great shopping facilities and marketsnot forgetting the many events and festivals throughout the year, there is always something to do.

Bristols docks received a vast amount of exotic goods, spices and foods from all over the world for hundreds of years and this exotic influence is very evident today in the cities eateries.

As soon as you have tasted the great cuisine on offer in the numerous restaurants and cafes in the city, you instantly realise why foodies from far and wide love this city so much. You will find something for everyone within the broad selection of dishes available. Whatever you are looking for, be it Spanish, Portuguese, Thai or West Indian, you will find it here.

St Nicholas Market is a popular, central location that has a multitude of excellent places to browse, shop and eat. At st Nicholas you can sample and taste produce of all kinds, both local and exotic. Any visit to the south west, would not be complete without a cream tea. This is a popular tradition with the young and old. Whilst this tradition is not helpful to the waistline, this is an essential experience.

Some popular specialities to try are Exmoor Blue cheese and of course cheddar. This region is a fantastic agricultural area, where some of the best quality meatand dairy products in the UK are produced each year.

There are many farms in the area of the country producing excellent ciders and you may even get the chance to sample some of the regions cider brandy, although, be warned, it is said to be rather strong! By having the chance to buy direct from producers in the local farm shops and markets, you are able to not only get your hands on the most excellent quality produce, but learn about the way it was farmed too.

Bristol is inexpensive for food and accommodation, particularly in comparison to neighbouring destinations. Visit this great city and find out for yourself what it has to offer.
